The Los Angeles Acting Conservatory offers 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year acting programs designed to train students for professional film, television, and theater careers.

Two-Year Conservatory Degree

Associate Degree of Occupational Sciences – Fine Arts / Acting for Film


Students complete 60 credits over two years. Programs may be expedited to 16 months through trimester scheduling (including summers). Advisors can tailor course plans to meet individual needs.

Semester-by-Semester Overview

1st Semester — Foundations

Acting Technique: Monologues

 Build audition-ready comedic & dramatic monologues.

Improvisation (Beginner/Intermediate)

 3–5 minute scenes, philosophy, spontaneity.

Acting Technique: Meisner

 Living truthfully under imaginary circumstances.

Movement for Acting I

Physical awareness, body–mind connection.

Voice & Speech

Clarity, articulation, rhythm, and intonation.

On-Camera Film Acting

Cold reads, quick choices, playback review.

Film & Script Analysis

 Scene objectives, themes, directorial perspective.

Golden Box Workshop

Core emotional tools, major acting methodologies.

2nd Semester – Character, Scene Work, On-Camera Training

Acting Technique
– Intellect & Imagination

Build imagination, script analysis, and sensory awareness through Adler-based training.

Scene Study I

Develop core acting skills through scenes from modern theater, film, and TV.

Movement for Acting II

Deepen body–mind connection and physical expressiveness.

Stage Combat

Learn safe unarmed combat and basic fight choreography.

On-Camera – Cold Reading

Train fast, confident cold-reading skills for auditions.

Improvisation – Intermediate

Strengthen improv skills and sustain 5–8 minute improvised scenes.

Acting in a Web Series

Understand acting for digital platforms and creating web-based content.

3rd Semester — Advanced Techniques

Acting Technique
– Stanislavski

Use sensory and emotional recall to create authentic, truthful performances.

On-Camera – Acting

Improve on-camera scene work, audition technique, and natural delivery.

Stage Combat – Film

Practice film-style combat using safe prop weapons.

Scene Study II

Advanced scene work with research on major acting theorists.

Improvisation

Learn long-form improv structures used in major improv schools.

Musical Theater

Train contrasting monologues and songs for musical theater auditions.

Film & Script Analysis

 Analyze film themes and characters through scene performance.

4th Semester - Professional-Level Performance

Acting Technique – Strasberg

 Apply Method techniques—relaxation, sensory work, emotional recall—to scenes.

Business of Acting

Learn industry navigation, branding, and career-building strategies.

Improvisation
– Advanced

Create long-form improv sets and develop coaching skills.

On-Camera
– Film Audition

Refine on-camera audition choices using classical and contemporary scenes.

Scene Study
– Advanced

Perform 15–20 minute one-acts with deep script and character work.

Make a Movie
– Part 1 & 2

Write, produce, and shoot original short films for reels and festivals.

ELECTIVES 

Alexander Movement

Improve posture, alignment, and classical performance skills.

Full-Length Play

Rehearse and stage a complete play from casting to final performance.

Scene Bites

Prepare 5–10 minute scenes and present them in a live showcase.

Scene Study & Shakespeare

Train classical acting through Shakespearean and contemporary scenes.

Accent Reduction

Master Standard American accent, rhythm, and articulation.

Independent Study

Create a personalized acting or film project under faculty supervision.

We are authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant international students.

To receive an I-20, students must:

  1. Apply and be accepted into a full-time program
     

  2. Complete all required documents for the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory International Student Office
